Experience a Candlelit service at Cartmel Priory

Do join with us on Sunday 1st February at 3.30pm for a service of Choral Evensong as we together enjoy being bathed in candlelight for Candlemas. The service commemorates the event described in Luke 2:22–40, where Mary and Joseph bring the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem. Traditionally, candles are blessed during the service, symbolising Christ as the Light of the World—hence the name Candlemas. You will be most welcome as we enjoy the sacred Priory space using candles.
